The Mentor Program PCAM is pleased to announce its 2011 Mentor Coaching Program. PCAM members actively pursuing their Associate Certified Coach (ACC) or Professional Certified Coach (PCC) from the International Coach Federation will be eligible to apply for 10 hours of mentor coaching by PCC- and/or MCC-credentialed members of the Professional Coaches Association of Michigan. The cost of the program is $750 for 10 hours of combined group and individual mentor coaching. The 2011 Fall Mentor Program will feature 7 hours of group coaching as follows: 3.5 hours - Wednesday, December 14 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. 3.5 hours - Thursday, December 15 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Both of the above half-day sessions will be conducted in the Detroit metro area. Three hours of one-on-one individual mentor coaching will be scheduled between the participants and the three PCAM Mentor Coaches. The registration deadline is December 2, 2011. The PCAM Mentor Program is a PCAM-member benefit that provides assistance in the form of 10 hours of mentor coaching to coaches applying for their ACC (Associate Certified Coach) or PCC (Professional Certified Coach) credentials from the ICF (International Coach Federation). Why do I need mentor coaching? Beginning July 1, 2008, all portfolio applicants for the ICF ACC credential are required to complete 10 hours of mentor coaching. The PCAM Mentor Program will supply these 10 hours and help prepare ACC applicants for their credentialing exams. How does the program work? The Mentor Coaching classes will be conducted on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Detroit Metro area. These two half-day classes will satisfy 7 of the 10 hours required for the ACC or PCC credential from the ICF. Each participant will also receive their hours of personalized mentor coaching with PCAM's three Mentor coaches: Sylvia Becker-Hill, David Chinsky and Grace Menzel. When and where does the mentoring group meet? Group sessions are conducted face-to-face, and individual mentor coaching is conducted by telephone. Dates, times and locations of the mentoring programs can be found on the PCAM website. We have established a minimum of four and a maximum of ten participants for each program. Who will be mentoring the coaches in the program? All mentor coaches will have earned either their PCC or MCC credential from the ICF and will be committed to the success of program participants. The Mentor Coaches in 2011 will be Sylvia Becker-Hill, David Chinsky and Grace Menzel. All three of these coaches hold the PCC credential from the ICF. What expectations exist for participants in the program? Coaches participating in the program are expected to meet the ICF eligibility requirements for pursuing a credential, including completion of a coach-specific training program. Participants are expected to commit to active participation throughout the program, to coach in front of their group at least once during the program, to provide honest and constructive feedback to others in their group, attend individual mentoring sessions, and pay for the mentor coaching at the time of registration. All participants also must be current members of the Professional Coaches Association of Michigan. What is the cost of participating in the PCAM Mentor Program? The fee for the PCAM Mentor Program is $750 per participant. This fee covers 10 hours of mentor coaching, including seven hours of group mentor coaching and three hours of individual mentor coaching.
